About KL5 Networks
We have been putting calls through in this region since 1948, under two names and four generations of switching equipment. The dial tone has not changed.
Where we started
Klondike Valley Telephone Co.
The company was chartered in 1948 to bring service to the valley towns the larger carriers had passed over. For thirty-six years it ran under that name, growing from two hundred subscribers on magneto lines to a crossbar exchange serving the whole county.
In 1984 we became KL5 Networks — a new name for a business that had stopped being a valley telephone company some years before, and a deliberate signal that what came next would be digital.
Leadership
The people who keep it running
Eight exchanges and four hundred and eighty-two trunk routes do not maintain themselves. Our outside plant crews work every pole, vault and splice case in the service area, in whatever weather the region provides.
Inside, operators, customer care representatives and switch technicians cover the network around the clock. There is no hour at which nobody is watching.
One Exchange Plaza
Corporate offices, the network operations centre and the Marion Falls central office all sit on the same campus — deliberately. The people who plan the network can walk down to the people who run it.
Network · People · Community · Tomorrow
Four words on the wall of our operations centre. They are not a slogan so much as an order of operations: the network exists to serve people, people make communities, and communities are what we are building toward.
